Your Mistakes Make You.

I have made a lot of mistakes in my life. I’ve let people take advantage of me severally and I accepted way less than I deserve. However, I’ve learned from my bad choices, even though there are people and things I can never get back, and people who will never be sorry, I’ll know better next time and I won’t settle for anything less than I deserve. My mistakes have made me wiser.
If you don’t remember the last mistake you made whether in your personal life or career, there are high chances that you have been operating in a comfort zone for too long.
In our world today “there is no greater sin than committing a mistake.” At school, you are punished, you pay a heavy price in your career, as a leader,  people write you off when you make mistakes. As an entrepreneur, people consider your mistake to be the end of the road for you.
Most children are not taught how to handle mistakes both in school and at home. The greatest damage that such nurturing creates is continuous fear of trying new things. Many do not realize that “mistakes are proof that you are trying. A person who never made a mistake never tried anything new.”
So are making mistakes alright? When do you have to start worrying about making mistakes?
Mistakes have the power to turn you into something better than you were before. It is not how we make mistakes or the number of times we make mistakes that is important, but how we deal with them, correct them, and learn from them.
As a Business man, you know you are bound to make mistakes since you are constantly under pressure, sometimes leading to hasty decisions.
Importantly, how do you deal with mistakes that others make; those that your team of employees makes? You may feel that you can’t be paying the price of mistakes by others. How do you make them pay the price? Hold that thought.
Those who make mistakes don’t have to pay for them. Even ‘good’ people make bad choices; but it doesn’t mean they are bad. It means they are human. Making mistakes is better than faking perfections.
Entrepreneurs ought to realize that it’s OK for employees to make mistakes. But they should evidently learn from them.
So how do you as an individual or a business deal with mistakes? “When you make a mistake, don’t look back at it for too long, take the lessons behind it into your mind and then look forward. Mistakes are lesson of wisdom. The past cannot be changed. The future is yet in your power.
Admit You Made A Mistake And Encourage Others To Own Up: More people would learn from their mistakes if they weren’t so busy denying them. In your life or business, don’t be averse to mistakes, but the wisest thing would be for many people to admit the mistake or encourage others not to feel scared of owning up. It is then easy to move forward and be more in control of the future. Admitting your weakness does not diminish your strengths, but increases them.
Dig Deeper Into The Mistake: Your past mistakes are meant to guide you, not define you. It is impossible to live without failing at something unless you live so cautiously that you might as well not live at all. In which case you have failed by default. The word F.A.I.L to me is First Attempt In Learning.
Mistakes are portals of discovery, if you miss this, then you are bound to lose your treasure. Dig deeper into the mistake: why it happened, what could have been done better, how not to make more, and the lessons?
Fix The Issue Not The People: We all make mistakes and even regret things in our past. But you are not your mistakes, you are not your struggles, and you are here now with the power to shape your day and your future. The same applies for others. Even if you got yourself into trouble because of other's mistakes, don’t harp so much on how that person or people’s mistake cost you so much. Instead focus the energy on fixing the issue.
You may realize at some point that you may have to fix the people too either because they are repeatedly causing damage or have been willfully causing harm. Go ahead, have a plan to fix the people, but not before you fix the issue.
Learn from mistakes: Again, making mistakes is better than faking perfections. Afterall, making mistakes is part of life, so long as you learn from them. Mistakes are acceptable in life because life does not come with instructions on how to live it.
Mistakes are considered to be the growing pains of wisdom. So, neither fear them nor run away from them. Your mistakes are unpardonable if you don’t learn from them or commit the same mistake many times. You can never make the same mistake twice, because the second time is won't be a mistake but a choice you made.
"Do not be afraid to make Mistakes, tomorrow belongs to risk takers. While other hesitate and remain inferior, some others are making mistakes and becoming superior" which category are you?
